Looking for good results and a green and gold jumper

We fielded a great team on the weekend and went to Townsville really believing we could win, but at the end of the day we dropped too much ball and gave away too many penalties.

Personally, to score two tries was great, but the loss wasn’t. Also Ben Hornby’s try was special; good lead-up work and a great kick resulted in a super try.

The disappointment was made harder to bear with the news we have lost Ben through injury, and that Rylesy is looking at two weeks for an alleged grapple tackle. Hopefully he can beat the rap tonight and give us his experience and skill on the park for the rest of the season.

There was some good news though with Browny being re-signed by the club. I like Browny and am a big fan of his coaching.

It was a bit strange on the weekend with all the penalties being blown, particularly in one of the Friday night matches. I remember watching the game and every time any player went remotely near the head a penalty was given. Hopefully the referees can get the calls right as the players make an effort to stay away from grapple tackles and contact with the head.

I will be out there this week despite having a knee problem; it’s something I have been dealing with all year and the Dragons medical team has done well to keep me in reasonably good nick. Hopefully I won’t need any surgery at the end of the year, but a decision will have to be made.

Speaking of the end of the season, I’m hoping I can put in a couple more good performances and remind the selectors I’m still here and looking to pull on an Australian jersey, whether it be in the Kumuls game or the end of year test. Not making the semis will make it difficult, but I think I’m playing pretty well.

I hope we get a big crowd at WIN this Monday, we will do our best to upset a finals-bound Parramatta side and give our fans something to cheer at the end of the year for all their support.

Hurting after the loss

I can’t lie, the loss on Saturday night hurt all the boys. To be up by four with 18 minutes to go and lose was tough to take.

Jamie Soward may have been in the bin, but we shouldn’t have let two tries in while he was there. It was probably one of those things that [...]
